KV Hoffmann / 2016
In automotive design, one of the most demanding disciplines is the creation of an entire car from the first sketch to the final shape. This particular project was truly exceptional because it was developed as a collaboration between two companies: the design studio NOVAGUE and KV Hoffmann, a renowned manufacturer of pressing molds and tooling for the automotive industry.
The project serves as a tribute to the legendary Czech racing car Škoda 200 RS, an icon of the 1970s that holds a special place in the history of motorsport. At the time, it was the only vehicle produced by Škoda with an output of 200 horsepower, designed specifically for rally competitions. The car featured a transmission taken from the legendary Porsche 911 and was admired for its striking proportions — low, wide, and beautifully balanced. Its sleek bodywork embodied the spirit of speed and elegance, making it one of the most remarkable designs in Czech automotive history.
Inspired by this heritage, the R200 project was conceived as a modern reinterpretation of the classic sports car. The design presents an elegant and cohesive form enriched with refined details. It combines newly developed sheet-metal body panels with existing components such as headlights and wheels, creating a harmonious dialogue between innovation and tradition. The NOVAGUE design extends to every part of the vehicle, including the interior, where custom-designed ergonomic seats, a sculpted dashboard, and other key elements form a unified and authentic sports environment.
The R200 was produced in a limited series, with only a few exclusive units crafted for collectors and design enthusiasts. The car was showcased at several prestigious exhibitions across Europe, with its official premiere held at the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague, where it drew significant attention from both professionals and the public.
